About the Role

You will be responsible for delivering engaging and enriching lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering a love for learning while equipping them with the skills they need to excel.

This role allows for a single, dedicated point of contact for students, fostering strong relationships and continuity in their learning journey across different subjects. Key Responsibilities:


  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate diverse and stimulating lessons aligned with the National Curriculum and catering to various learning styles and abilities.

  • Develop a love for subjects you teach by using and creating resources.

  • Cultivate critical thinking and analytical skills through engaging discussions, debates, and written analysis exercises.

  • Craft effective assessments that accurately measure student progress and guide their learning journey.

  • Prepare students for any examinations/assessments, providing targeted support and personalised feedback.

  • Lead or contribute to school-wide initiatives and the enjoyment of Learning.

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across other subjects.

  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay abreast of best practices and curriculum changes.

  • Build positive relationships with students, parents, and guardians, fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Maintain accurate records and reports as necessary.

  • Teaching PSHE and occasional cover lessons

 

Essential Skills and Experience:


  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or high levels of teaching experience.

  • In-depth knowledge of the National Curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4.

  • Proven ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans that cater to diverse learning needs.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students.

  • Experience in using technology to enhance learning in the classroom (desirable).

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

 

Desirable Skills and Experience:

 

  • Experience teaching GCSEs or equivalent.

  • A track record of successfully preparing students for examinations.

  • Familiarity with differentiated learning strategies and approaches.

  • Experience working with students with SEND.

  • Enthusiasm for using creative subjects.

Person Specification:


Essential:


Qualifications and Experience:


● Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or at least 4 years of teaching experience

● Minimum 2 years’ experience in a secondary school setting.

● Experience teaching more than one subject.

● Undergraduate degree in chosen subject/subjects.


Knowledge and Skills:


● In-depth knowledge of the National Curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4.

● Proven ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate engaging and effective lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.

● Strong understanding of literacy development and a range of teaching methods to promote reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills.

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

● Ability to cultivate critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills in students.

● Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.


Personal Qualities:


● Passion for your main subject and a willingness to undertake CPD in any additional subject to enhance knowledge and skills.

● Strong organisational and time management skills.

● Ability to set clear expectations, provide constructive feedback, and differentiate instruction to support individual student needs.

● Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the school and students.
