About Us

Are you passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)?

OMG Education is seeking to appoint a committed and knowledgeable SEND Governor to join our Governing Board and provide strategic oversight, support, and challenge in relation to SEND provision across the school.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the leadership and development of an inclusive educational environment where every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential.

About the Role

The SEND Governor plays a key strategic role in supporting the Board to ensure that the school meets its statutory responsibilities and delivers high-quality provision for pupils with SEND.

Working closely with the Chair of Governors, Headteacher, SENCO, and senior leaders, the successful candidate will:
• provide strategic challenge and support in relation to SEND provision
• monitor the effectiveness of SEND policies, practice, and outcomes
• support the Board in understanding statutory duties under the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice
• review progress data, attendance, exclusions, and wider outcomes for pupils with SEND
• champion inclusion, equality of opportunity, and pupil voice
• contribute to governor meetings and relevant committee work
• act as a link governor for SEND, including visits and professional discussions with school leaders

The post you are applying for is exempt from the 'Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974’. You will be required at the interview stage to declare any unspent convictions, spent convictions, pending charges/current Police investigations, bind-overs, warnings/cautions or reprimands.



Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals with experience or knowledge in areas such as:

  • education

  • special educational needs and disability

  • safeguarding and inclusion

  • health, social care, or psychology

  • school leadership or governance

  • lived experience as a parent or carer of a child with SEND

 

Previous governance experience is helpful but not essential, as training and support will be provided. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who are passionate about inclusive education and can provide thoughtful support and constructive challenge.

 

Commitment

This is a voluntary governance role.

The commitment includes attendance at scheduled governing board meetings, occasional school visits, and preparation time to review relevant documents and reports.
